the Troops Are BAD, um-K??

Education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. And if you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.
–John Kerry

Now, I know exactly what John Kerry was trying to say — that America’s all-volunteer armed forces are a bunch of high school dropouts who joined the Army instead of slinging burgers or selling crack.

In other words: The Troops Are Stupid.

Less than a week before an election in which his party seems poised to oust Republicans from the US House & Senate, the highest-profile Democrat in Washington went and called the Troops Stupid.

What a nimrod.

Look: Everyone on the planet who cares knows Kerry was cracking on Bush — proud anti-intellectual that he is — for his dip-shit maneuvering in Iraq. But in a world of sound-bite politics the sound-bite is everything. And Kerry delivered one so precisely wrong that Republicans are now free to flog their political adversaries with it to their heart’s content; and the truth of the matter be damned.

The anti-Kerry ‘furor’ is perhaps more effective for being so blatantly contrived. How better to make Democrats appear spineless, than to turn his own party’s frontrunning ’08 presidential hopeful against Kerry for something everyone knows she knows he didn’t even say?

Right & wrong are beside the point. This is politics, kiddos. But it’s more than that.

This is Gambling. And I got $50 bet against the Democrats winning both houses of Congress. On the basis of my theory that they’ll find some fantastic way to Blow It.

So I say:

Way to go John Kerry!

you know what democrats need ..they need a dumb democrat to lead the way.none of this smarty pants stuff, someone who speaks american, speaks the speak of the common working man. cause lets face it our nation aint the brightest bunch right now.

Clinton was good , he wasnt plain dumb , he sounded kinda funny with that accent but more goofy than dumb which seems to be a winner too.
dumb people definetly do not like to be told “YOUR DUMB” like kerry so smartly did and soon there after had the idiots looking to linch him, torches in hand–>that would be the republicans.

yep dumb is safe. dumb is what we know best. its everywhere.
we Get dumb, we like it dumb, its easier that way.

In my heart I know he ment to say:
Education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. And if you don’t, you [become President and] get stuck in Iraq.

Yep. It don’t take a rocket surgeon to figure out he didn’t mean to call the Troops Stupid! Hell I wish he got it right — would’ve been a real funny one. Plus, despite the make-believe $50 I got riding on the election…I’m secretly rooting for the Dems.

I can’t stand ’em but I want ’em to win anyway. That’s politics…

At the end of the day, John Kerry is no Stephen Colbert. So maybe he should just leave the comedy to the experts…

Mark: I agree — in fact often I should take your advice!
