TRY THIS AT HOME!!

‘Well, the Results aren’t in yet.’

That’s what Jerry Garcia once told an interviewer, when asked whether the Whole Drug Thing was a ‘good idea’ for him personally.

The Results Aren’t In Yet.

Well…the Results came in yesterday. Boy — I’d hate to be some kind of Sober Person with a plug up my ass reading this!

I mentioned, in an earlier post, about how every so often life provides Verifiable Proof that what we do is Right. Not like I needed any, on this matter particularly, but still my heart beats faster when I read it.

A recent study, conducted by researchers at Johns Hopkins, scientifically proved the following:

Shrooms RULE!!

Specifically:

–Volunteers who tried the hallucinogenic ingredient in psychedelic mushrooms during a controlled study funded by the U.S. government had “mystical” experiences, and many of them still felt unusually happy months later.

–More than 60 percent of the volunteers reported effects of their psilocybin session that met the criteria for a ‘full mystical experience.’

–What’s more, most of the 36 adult participants — none of whom had taken psilocybin before — counted their experience while under the influence of the drug as “among the most meaningful and spiritually significant experiences of their lives.” Most said they became better, kinder, happier people in the weeks after the psilocybin session — a fact corroborated by family and friends.

Score: 1 for the Team!!

Golly — ya think that’s why people seem so darned happy every time they get sold a bag of them things? They always — always — say Thank You. And usually bust off with a High-5 & a big fuckin WooHoo!

You may have guessed that I for one believe psilocybin mushrooms are the coolest thing to hit Planet Earth since the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. And while we could while away days, debating whether Shrooms arrived just before, or just after, the Guide, let’s leave temporal axis ponderances to the Experts…

…and for now just cheer on the Scientists, who’ve Proved Verifiably that Shrooms Rule.

I think it’s always been the accepted case with psychedelics.

Way back when, I recall an out and out evil mod speedfreak called Drew Cabrelli (he wasn’t Irish), who used to get blocked on amphetamines and head-butt traffic as a starter to a main course of people bashing.

One night about ’67 he took the full 250 mic Purple Haze trip and changed completely.

Became my best friend; I still visit him, but he’s usually too busy basket-weaving.

By the way my comment about your nationality was a compliment, just in case you didn’t realise.

    Howdy, neighbor!

There is something oddly admirable about head-butting cars. I say if you stick to that, and leave out the people-bashing, you’ve got yourself Quality Entertainment for an evening…

Didn’t really take the Nationality Comment one way or the other — though Americans — the Good Ones (i’m sure you know there’s many…but still I point it out. see?) we’re a touch insecure about our idententies lately…

…but even in the best times to be an American (the 90’s ROCKED here, yo) I’ve never felt being one was worthy of compliment.

    That’s just me, personally.

But I’ve always always felt this strange pride about being from Vermont. Guess it doesn’t trans-atlantically translate well — but call anyone where I live an American & you’d get the same (shit no — I’m a VERMONTER) thing.

re psychedelics: You and I have always accepted this as the case. Does medical science agree, in your parts?

Not here, no way — the Government will not allow it. So this study pushes the envelope big-time, around here at least…
